We’re telling a dark medieval fantasy horror about faith, judgment, and the cost of denial.

Mission Statement

This film examines faith, judgment, and violence through their real human consequences. Rooted in historical realism and shaped by myth and superstition, it’s a grounded medieval dark-fantasy story designed to stay with you long after the final frame.

We’re preparing to launch our crowdfunding campaign on Seed&Spark to bring the film to completion. To support the project and be notified the moment the campaign goes live, sign up for our email list below.

For behind-the-scenes updates, early previews, and ongoing discussion, follow the film on Facebook.

Help Us Finish The Hunt | Medieval Fantasy Short Film

The Hunt is a dark medieval fantasy about Ulric, a weary Ex-Templar knight and his small group of four warriors tasked with finding a missing Father and Son in a cursed forest where a beast is rumored to live. What begins as a familiar hunt quickly unravels. Signs are misread. Faith falters. And the true threat proves harder than any that has come before.

As the forest closes in, Ulric and his companions—each bound by loyalty, belief, or necessity—are forced to confront the cost of conviction. This is not a story of glory or triumph, but of burden: the weight of command, the danger of certainty, and the violence that follows when belief is tested and found wanting.

The Hunt is a character-driven medieval low fantasy where spectacle serves the story, not the other way around. Armor is heavy. The weapons are brutal. And every choice has a consequence.

Why this story?

We’ve always been drawn to films that treat history and myth with weight—stories where armor feels heavy, faith is complicated, and violence carries consequence. Films like Kingdom of Heaven, The Lord of the Rings, The Witcher, and The King shaped our love for medieval storytelling.

Why us?

For years, we believed a film like this was out of reach—not creatively, but practically. So instead of waiting for permission or a budget that might never come, we committed to building it ourselves. We learned. We planned. And we made the choice to do it anyway.

Nearly everything in the film has been crafted by hand using real materials. The armor is real. The locations are real. Not for strict historical accuracy, but for authenticity of feel. We wanted a world that feels worn, brutal, and lived-in—something you believe the moment you step into it.

Why now?

Fantasy genre filmmaking is increasingly dominated by shortcuts and surface-level spectacle. The Hunt is our response: a grounded, intimate fantasy that takes its characters, themes, and audience seriously. We believe there is still room for films that value restraint, consequence, and craft—and that now is the moment to prove it.

From the beginning, we knew this couldn’t be cheap—or shallow. We weren’t interested in making just another indie monster horror film, or another generic fantasy film that looked and felt all the others. This story had to stand on its characters, its writing, and its themes. What emerged is a darker, more intimate medieval low fantasy—driven by faith, loyalty, and the consequences of conviction—where spectacle serves the story, not the other way around.

Where We Are & How You Can Help

The Hunt is no longer an idea—it is already real.

Portions of the film have been shot and funded over years of personal investment and collaboration. A proof-of-concept trailer, using footage from the project, is available below to give a clear sense of the tone, world, and approach.

However, cast changes and scheduling realities mean some material now needs to be reshot—an unavoidable part of independent filmmaking. In addition, post-production costs now exceed what we can personally sustain.

This campaign exists to finish the film properly:

  • Fairly compensating cast and crew

  • Securing locations and insurance

  • Completing sound design, color grading, and visual effects

  • Delivering a final film worthy of the work already done

What happens after completion?

Once finished, The Hunt will enter its festival run. Backers will receive early digital access to the completed short film before its public release, along with updates on festival screenings and where the film is shown.

If the campaign surpasses its goal, additional funds will be directed toward expanded post-production polish and broader festival submissions.
