About Me
Writer. Director. Editor. Filmmaker. Storyteller.
Eric Brown is a filmmaker and writer based in Iowa. He writes grounded genre films centered on people under moral pressure—exploring faith, violence, loyalty, and survival within historically or socially harsh worlds. His work is character-first, favoring restraint and psychological consequence over spectacle.
Born and raised in Iowa, Eric grew up loving movies and television, though it wasn’t until his time in the DMACC Film Production program that filmmaking truly clicked for him. What once felt like tedious logistics—planning, budgeting, problem-solving—became integral parts of the creative process. For the first time, storytelling felt tangible and urgent. Watching films was no longer enough; he felt compelled to make his own.
Eric approaches filmmaking with an almost relentless need to create—an instinct to tell stories that examine consequence, belief, and human endurance. That drive has carried him through writing, directing, and producing multiple short films and independent projects, with an emphasis on grounded tone, strong performances, and emotionally honest storytelling.
Outside of filmmaking, the two constants in Eric’s life are his wife and his work. Everything else, he believes, is temporary.
He is always open to collaboration and welcomes opportunities to contribute as a writer, director, or crew member on projects that value story, craft, and intention.
